A Poetic Pilgrimage

“The tunes wafted in the strong breeze to reach the lake and deep into the woods. It suddenly started raining hard. The sky grew darker and we shivered. We came to the end of the programme. This was perhaps the only time that Tagore’s birth anniversary was celebrated at his Hampstead home.”

My innate literary urge has taken me round the world in quest of new experiences and unexplored frontiers. After visiting England that is indeed a Poetic Pilgrimage, I thought to write a book containing the biography of four famous poets , who lived in England and spent the trial and tribulations of their creative journey in England, they are Shakespeare, Keats, Wordsworth and Tagore.

The reason that has whet my desire and interest to write this book - The moment you hear the name England, vignettes of Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the Thames, and the Tower of London flash through your mind. We tend to forget that England was home to some of the greatest poets the world ever produced- Shakespeare, Keats, Wordsworth and Tagore write to share my experience. I believe the readers enjoy this awakening in every line of Poetic Pilgrimage.. It is a poetic pilgrimage, oblivious of all else that the country has to offer. I was soon transported back in time and found myself part of the scenes that made up the everyday lives of my favorite poets. Naturally it left me wallowing in a surge of emotions. I was mystified. A Poetic Pilgrimage is the English version of the original Bengali book Kabitirtha Bilet which was published in May 2012.

Both the versions have attractive colorful photographs of my visit to Shakespeare's house at Stratford-upon-Avon, at Keats's residence , the immortal portrait of the yellow daffodils of William Wordsworth, and much more.
